Wishing you all a Very Happy Christmas!

As the year draws to a close, I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to all those of you who have continued to follow, read, comment and share a common interest with me here at AviationTrails.

The last year has simply flown by, and with the number of trails increasing, it has been a tremendous journey. This year has seen a few new additions with many older ones updated as new information has come to light. Many visitors have passed through, sharing their own experiences or family stories, adding that ‘little extra’ to the trails. The number of airfields I have now visited has increased to well over 120 stretching from Scotland in the north to Kent in the south, from the eastern regions to the west of England; a huge area but one in which there are still many, many more airfields and sites yet to visit.

The stories they hold have been incredible, encompassing acts of great bravery, profound loss, and a dedication to duty that surpasses any normal human endeavour. I am sure there are many more yet to come to light.

So as 2026 approaches, I would like to take the opportunity to wish you all, wherever you are, a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Finally, and no apologies for showing this again, in memory of my father whose experiences and love of aircraft inspired me, is one of his Christmas dinner menus, a festive feast whilst serving in 324 Wing, RAF Deversoir in the early 1950s.

Merry Christmas one and all!

  1. Dear Andy. Thank you once again for a quite extraordinary piece of work surpassed only by the efforts of those you help us to remember. They will surely be proud of what you do and be grateful for your efforts at having their passing legacy properly recorded. Have a very Happy Christmas. Martin

  2. Andy,

Thank you for your continued dedication to tracing and memorializing all these trails. My father was stationed in North Witham with the Pathfinders and your stories illuminate some of what he must have experienced. I thank you sincerely for all of your efforts. You are a treasure! Wishing you a very Happy Christmas!

    • Thank you Jean. I certainly remember, we had a few email exchanges and you kindly sent me some photos of your dad and his crew which I used in the page about North Witham. It certainly helped bring alive the history of the place for which I’ll be forever grateful. Have a fabulous Christmas and a happy new year to you. Andy.
